Why would the air conditioner freeze up?
There are several things that can cause this. I will list the most common reasons in order: dirty filter, dirty evaporator coil, low on refrigerant, or closed off supply registers. Checking the filter is generally the first step. If you do a good job of keeping this clean then you will want to have diagnostic or tune up done on the system.
When is it time to replace my heating and cooling system?
Don't buy a new system until you have taken into consideration the factors that impact your family and your home. There are many factors that determine when it is the best time for you to replace your heating and cooling system such as: price, comfort, safety, warranty, previous repairs, future repairs, age of system, guarantees, how long you will live in the home, and your return on investment. Each home and family has different needs and wants.

How long does a furnace or air conditioner last?
The national average for systems that have not been maintained is 13 years for an air conditioner and 15 years for a furnace. The more extreme the climate the shorter the life span. For systems that have had proper maintenance the national average for a furnace is 24 years and for an air conditioner it is 20 years.
Do I really need to have my system serviced every year?
No you do not. It is your choice. It is important to understand what you will sacrifice in doing so. All manufacturers state that proper maintenance must be performed annually to keep the warranty in effect. Why do they do this? Because they know the reality of what happens to a system that is not maintained properly. The average life span of the system is reduced by at least 20% and the energy consumption increases by an average of 25% by non maintained systems. At Service Legends over 85% of our service calls could have been prevented with proper maintenance.
My furnace or air conditioner is not working what do I do?
1. Check your filter for dirt.
2. Check your breaker and/or switch on the side of your furnace.
3. Double check your thermostat for the proper setting.
